I have said that Nichiren Buddhism is practical and I’d like to give you an example of what I mean. Have you ever gotten up in the morning and dreaded going to work, feeling depressed and anxious? Would you like to be able to pull yourself out of these negative emotional states? Well, you can.
When you chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo with that intention in mind, before long you will find you are feeling quite differently. I know people who suffered from acute anxiety or chronic depression before they began chanting. Today they are different people. Those negative emotions have dropped away.
Maybe you have experienced other difficult emotions you have wished you could change. If you could, this would be one step on your path to unshakeable happiness.
